What is Small Business Week?

Every year since 1963, the President of the United States has issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners.

More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year.

As part of National Small Business Week, the U.S. Small Business Administration takes the opportunity to highlight the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners, and others from all 50 states and U.S. territories. Every day, they’re working to grow small businesses, create 21st century jobs, drive innovation, and increase America’s global competitiveness.

Our History

Small Business Week is a nationwide celebration and recognition of small business owners, small business champions and government contractors, hosted and sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration and celebrated at the district, state, regional and national level. It culminates every year with the national celebration in Washington, D.C. where the national award winners are recognized.

Our week of events is widely recognized at the national level as one of, if not the, top district celebration of Small Business Week in the country. We’re the only district in the nation that hosts a full week of events as well as the only district with a not for profit arm in place to assist the SBA in it’s efforts surrounding Small Business Week. In addition, we consistently see our nominees move on to win at the state, regional and national level.
